The few HF readers that I know that can read at 1m (I would say that there are 5 different ones worldwide that can do this) use Helmholtz antenna configurations with a diameter of around 70cm (this is physically limited), hand-picked large tags and readers the size of shoe boxes. Price for such readers is definitely above 1kEUR,...

125kHz RFID Tag Reader · George Brown - electronics.digital

pcb / rfid

As part of my course's labs, we had to design a RFID reader board. This project served two purposes; it let us use the skills learned in our communications system lectures, and also gain practical experience in PCB design. This project was done in partnership with Harry Beadle .

The board is designed to operate with 125kHz tags. These have been superseded by 13MHz ISM tags for...

Now the PCB is ready. Make sure there are no solder drops on the PCB. You can measure with an Ohm-meter if there is a short circuit.

Measure pin 1 and pin 2 of IC1 (the voltage input) and pin 3 and pin 2 of IC1 (the voltage output).

When everything is ok, insert the MAX232 and the MEGA88.

You can connect the battery cord to header X1. The red wire is the plus. Since the circuit is...

A Test Instrument for HF/LF RFID - cq.cx

A Test Instrument for HF/LF RFID

This device can do almost anything involving almost any kind of low-(~125 kHz) or high-(~13.56 MHz) frequency RFID tag. It can act as a reader. It can eavesdrop on a transaction between another reader and a tag. It can analyze the signal received over the air more closely, for example to perform an attack in which we derive information from the tag's instantaneous...

PN532 Antenna Design question | NXP Community

Dear NFC community members,

I am working on designing a small RFID reader circuit that is based on the PN532 chip and I would like to get some feedback. My background isn't RF engineering, so I am not sure about many things.

I'll summarize the main questions first, and then describe in details what I've done:

I am using miniVNA Tiny for taking measurements.

Q1: which parameter (SWR, RP, RL) should I look at for figuring out the self resonance of a circuit?

Sometimes the sign flip of RP correlates...

UHF RFID Read Ranges - Stack Exchange

I'm going to examine the maths of transmitting power from a point source (the reader antenna) and assume the passive tag has an antenna that can pick-up, rectify and re-use a fraction of this power. This doesn't consider near-field effects/benefits (these may save the day but my gut feeling suggests they won't).

The reader antenna is pumping out +20dBm - that's a power of...
