RFID tags are broadly classified into passive and active tags. Reading an RFID tag "does not" need "line-of-sight" as with the case of barcodes, but the "read-distance" is determined by whether the RFID tag is active or passive. RFID readers can be fixed or mobile readers, but your cellphone cannot be used to read RFID tags like in the case of barcodes.

What is the future of RFID technology? - Quora

I wonder if any of you have watched "Repo Men" for Jude Law and Forest Whitaker. The sci-fi thriller's story basically revolves around health care in the future. When someone needs a heart, kidney, liver or any other organ, a specialized company named the Union will supply patients with the needed organs in exchange for a huge sum of money plus 19.99% interest rate. Granted, a...

Answered 17w ago

This is a really great and actually somewhat easy to answer question. The real question is just about your expectations.

First, there are two options: active and passive. This refers not really to what the tags do but rather how far their reach is. So, passive tags require you to get very very close (as with NFC) and active have longer reach. This is because passive does not use...

Why do clothes manufacturers suggest removing the RFID tag ...

Why do clothes manufacturers suggest removing the RFID tag from their clothes?

I'm referring to the tags on clothes that say "REMOVE BEFORE WASHING" that contain an RFID tag.

Wouldn't it make sense to keep the RFID tag on the clothes so that future washing machines can detect what clothes are in the washing machine and potentially set up a program automatically or warn the user that they are...

Answered 46w ago

As someone else has already mentioned, if the system you are trying to hack is 125KHz (RFID LF) you won't be able to use at all NFC (13.56MHz, RFID HF).

Now, HID came up with systems like "Corporate 1000" which are actually very hard (or impossible) to clone. Any big company will be using that schema.

About using your Android phone's NFC to clone a card, you'll have some......
