Disadvantages of RFID. Mostly Minor Or You Can Minimize Them.
Many of the Disadvantages of RFID are minor, and if you can minimize the rest, you can reap the significant benefits that RFID technology has to offer.
While Radio Frequency IDentification technology may be right for a large operation, for a smaller one you may want to consider the setup and ongoing costs carefully, and compare them with other technologies such as bar coding.

RFID Centre - RFID
RFID is a general term that is used to describe a system that transmits the identity (in the form of a unique serial number) of an object wirelessly, using radio waves. This is sometimes referred to as contact-less technology and a typical RFID system is made up of three components: tags, readers and the host computer system.

How RFID Works - Technovelgy
How does RFID work? A Radio-Frequency IDentification system has three parts:
A scanning antenna
A transceiver with a decoder to interpret the data
A transponder - the RFID tag - that has been programmed with information.
The scanning antenna puts out radio-frequency signals in a relatively short range. The RF radiation does two things:
It provides a means of communicating with the transponder (the RFID tag) AND
It provides the RFID tag with the energy to communicate (in the case of passive RFID tags ).
This is an absolutely key part of the technology; RFID tags do not need to contain batteries, and can therefore remain usable for very long periods of time...
What Is the Purpose of RFID? | eHow
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technology designed to allow objects, animals and even human beings to be identified, located, and tracked using radio frequency signals. The history of RFID can be traced back to World War II, when it was used by the British to identify friendly aircraft. The technology has developed over the years and is now used in a wide range of...
