125KHz RFID Reader for Raspberry Pi from CognIoT on Tindie
125KHz RFID Reader from CognIoT. The Reader offers one of the best OOB (out of box) experiences for Pi based RFID readers. By using the UART of the Pi for communication and the built in intelligence of the Reader the user is able to operate the Reader without the need for libraries to be downloaded and compiled onto the Pi. Example software shows how to setup the 125KHz RFID Reader and how to monitor the RFID tags. The uses are endless - what will you design with the 125KHz RFID Reader?
The RFID reader is intelligent making your life simpler. The Pi sends commands to the reader over the...

Almost everyone uses an RFID badge to get into their office or apartment, and it's a lot easier than you might think for someone to steal the data on your card to gain access. A group of white hat hackers called RedTeam Security cloned one of our work IDs to show us just how quickly they can do it from as far as 3-6 feet away. RFID Door Access Control System using 8051 Project Kit
RFID Door Access Control System using 8051
RFID based door access control can be implemented in schools, colleges, offices, and so on. Nowadays RFID tags are associated with ID cards. Each tag has a unique id which can be picked up by a RFID reader. Our system consists of such a RFID reader which operates at 125KHz range. Three tag codes are stored inside the system and only those ID's get through. When a tag gets near the reader it...

The short answer is, it depends on how much time and money you want to spend. The way most RFID security systems work is by just reading the serial number on your token, and then sending that off to a computer somewhere that will say yes this serial belongs to a resident or no it doesn't. This also means that cloning a card is just copying the token's serial number to another token.
The is complicated because:
Even if you know the chip's frequency (e.g 125khz), there are a ton of different chips used in...
