Cat door locking mechanism
This is a video of my locking mechanism for the automatic cat door I built that detects if they cat has prey in her mouth, or if some other cat (by scanning for the cats RFID chip) is trying to enter. To lock the door I use a 12V solenoid chip which I control from a raspberry pi.

(when I used it in the video it was still a WIP)
The lock uses an ATmega328P I had laying around.
The RFID tags values that are allowed to open the door are stored in an SD card (I was too lazy to use the MCU's EEPROM).
The electromagnetic lock is switched on or off using a TIP142T.
And the RFID reader is an old RDM6300 module I also had laying around.
The micro switch is used to detect if the door is closed or not.

Arduino RFID Door Lock
This system uses Arduino as main controller and RFID MFRC522 as card reader. System uses two levels of protection, master(blue tag) and slave(white card). When master unlocks the door ,master must close it because slave does not have permission but if slave opens the door, slave and master can close it.
