Q. What is the difference between RFID and RTLS?
A.RTLS is how the location of an item is determined. An RTLS system typical have robust software that calculates the location of an item by using Angle or Arrival (AoA), Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA) and/or Radio Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). A real-time location system (RTLS) is one of a number of technologies that detects the...

Tracking Your Vehicles With RFID
By Justina Ly, May/June 2010 in Rental Software
RFID tags, about the size of a standard mailing label, are affixed to each vehicle's windshield. The tags store data such as the vehicle's make, model, color, gas capacity and physical location. An individual RFID tag costs $5.50 to $7 depending on the size and type of tag, according to Flower. The tags can be...
RFID Transponder - BME Encyclopedia
A RFID Transponder is an ID system that uses small radio frequency identification devices for identification and tracking purposes. An RFID tagging system includes the tag itself, a read/write device, and a host system application for data collection, processing, and transmission. An RFID tag (sometimes called an RFID transponder) consists of a chip, some memory, and an antenna.

Active systems have a much longer range than passive systems due to having an internal battery. Because of this an active tag will be much larger and more expensive than a passive tag. The passive tag will basically convert the RF signal from the Interrogator or reader and turn it into energy to return the signal.
Active tags will often be found on larger sized shipping containers/products whereas a passive tag, due to its small form factor can be used on any variety of products, containers, boxes...etc.
Passive tags are usually more durable than...

What are the Passive RFID Tags? - EngineersGarage
The passive RFID tags do not have any power source and hence they have indistinct operational life span. The power needed for functioning is taken from the reader when the tag comes in the vicinity of the reader. They are available in a variety of sizes ranging from sizes which can fit into adhesive label. The passive RFID is basically made up of three parts: Antenna...

Design and Optimization of Passive UHF RFID Systems | Jari ...
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. An RFID tag is an object that can be attached to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification using radio waves. Chip-based RFID tags contain silicon chips and antennas. Active tags require an internal power source, while passive tags do not.

Barcode Canada - Barcode Handbook
Barcode systems require three elements:
Origin of Bar Codes
You must have a source of bar codes that can be pre-printed or printed on demanded. Pre-printed barcode labels are more economical and usually have higher quality when you demand a large quantity. In contrast, on-demand bar codes can tailor to specific information that you want to encrypt in the labels.
