RFID Door Access Control System using 8051 Project Kit

RFID Door Access Control System using 8051

RFID based door access control can be implemented in schools, colleges, offices, and so on. Nowadays RFID tags are associated with ID cards. Each tag has a unique id which can be picked up by a RFID reader. Our system consists of such a RFID reader which operates at 125KHz range. Three tag codes are stored inside the system and only those ID's get through. When a tag gets near the reader it...

The short answer is, it depends on how much time and money you want to spend. The way most RFID security systems work is by just reading the serial number on your token, and then sending that off to a computer somewhere that will say yes this serial belongs to a resident or no it doesn't. This also means that cloning a card is just copying the token's serial number to another token.

The is complicated because:

Even if you know the chip's frequency (e.g 125khz), there are a ton of different chips used in...

Long-Range RFID Reader for the Arduino?

Dec 06, 2010, 03:01 am

Hello, I'm new to the Arduino, and this forum, so I hope I didn't post this in the wrong section.

I want to setup a system that uses RFID tags, a reader, the Arduino, and some external event, like unlocking a door, etc. There are plenty of code snippets on how to make the reader work, and I don't think I'd have a problem adapting the code to do whatever I want. However, none of the RFID readers I've seen used have a range over about 3 inches. This is useless to me, as taking the time to reach in my pocket, pull out the RFID device, then pass it over the reader, is...
